Yes it is now possible to send and receive money through PayPal in our local currency, the Philippine Peso, the advantage of this new service is that a fixed amount (in Philippine Peso) will be deducted on you account (in case you need to pay), unlike when using US Dollars as base currency which is dependent on the prevailing exchange rates.

This is good news for merchants that uses Philippine Pesos in their transactions, although PayPal’s foreign exchange rate is lower than the going rate, this feature relieves the usual problem of foreign exchange rate reconciliation.

The good news is that the final decision has not been reach (yet), the site has been very useful for me, with its wide following, it helps my sites popular. I just hope that Yahoo Developers would decide otherwise.

Politicians nowadays are tapping the power of social networking sites to gain popularity, likewise, I’ve seen a lot of Google Ads linking to the sites of politicians running for the 2010 National Elections.

But this ad really caught my attention (it’s an ad on my personal blog).

The anchor text reads “Rapist of 11-yr Old Girl” and described as “Supported by Morally Corrupt, Manny Villar, Gibo Teodoro and Erap”, the link points to Mark Jimenez’s website. I’m not aware of any position that Jimenez is aspiring for which makes me wonder what’s the intention of such an ad? Or should I ask, who dunnit?

According to its release notes, here are some of the new features added to the version 2.9:

1. Global undo/”trash” feature, which means that if you accidentally delete a post or comment you can bring it back from the grave (i.e., the Trash). This also eliminates those annoying “are you sure” messages we used to have on every delete.
2. Built-in image editor allows you to crop, edit, rotate, flip, and scale your images to show them who’s boss. This is the first wave of our many planned media-handling improvements.
3. Batch plugin update and compatibility checking, which means you can update 10 plugins at once, versus having to do multiple clicks for each one, and we’re using the new compatibility data from the plugins directory to give you a better idea of whether your plugins are compatible with new releases of WordPress. This should take the fear and hassle out of upgrading.
4. Easier video embeds that allow you to just paste a URL on its own line and have it magically turn it into the proper embed code, with Oembed support for YouTube, Daily Motion, Blip.tv, Flickr, Hulu, Viddler, Qik, Revision3, Scribd, Google Video, Photobucket, PollDaddy, and WordPress.tv (and more in the next release).

This has caused an alarm to Friendster, not so long ago, Friendster has been the most popular social networking site in the world. At it’s peak, it seems that every citizen of the world-wide-web owns a friendster account. When Facebook came into the picture, Friendster was put into the sideline, I can’t blame the users, Facebook offers more than networking, it offers connectivity in a zit, tons and tons of applications (and games) where people with idle time can flick their mouse and just enjoy.

Recently, the buzz that Friendster finally dressed-up roamed around the world-wide-web, this move most likely aimed to gain dominance in the social networking community. Although intrigued on what more Friendster can offer, I didn’t jumped on the boat so quickly, I waited until I confirmed that they finally did it.

Yes they finally did it, honestly I was not so impressed, all I can say that it looks like facebook (although it’s green) and Twitter. Check it out for your self and say I’m wrong.

Noticed that the keyword is in Filipino? Well that’s the main objective of the contest, it aims to promote the Filipino language in the SEO world, not to mention the competitive aspect of the contest which would in turn gauge the SEO capabilities of the participants.

Contest prizes (combined) is estimated to reach more than $2,500 in cash and kind, including collectible toys, domains & hosting packages. The contest will run from November 30, 2009 to February 14, 2010. Entries who will be on the top spot of the Google SERP for the keyword ‘Sikat ang Pinoy’ will be declared the champion.
